William C. Penley, MD
Dr. Penley is board certified in Medical Oncology and Internal Medicine and has been with Tennessee Oncology since 2005. From 1987 through 2005 he was a partner with the Consultant Group, PC, also here in Nashville. He received a BA Degree from University of Tennessee and received his MD from Bowman Gray School of Medicine. His residency and medical oncology fellowship were both completed at Vanderbilt University.
Dr. Penley’s areas of interest include all adult malignancies. He holds membership in the Nashville Academy of Medicine, the Tennessee Medical Association, and the American Medical Association. He is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), and serves on the ASCO Clinical Practice Committee, which he represents to the AMA CPT Editorial Panel. He is currently the chair-elect of the Government Relations Committee of ASCO. He has been on the Board of Directors of the Conquer Cancer Foundation (formerly the ASCO Cancer Foundation) since 2004, and serves as the Treasurer of the Foundation. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Association of Community Cancer Centers (ACCC). He is a member of the board of the Tennessee Oncology Practice Society (TOPS), having previously served as TOPS President. He is a member of the Dean’s Advisory Board of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
Dr. Penley sees patients at the Baptist Office. When away from the office, Dr. Penley spends most of his time in the mountains of East Tennessee, enjoying outdoor activities such as whitewater paddling, hiking, and fly fishing. He is a life member of the Tennessee Scenic River Association. He is also an avid reader of history and historical fiction.
